Club Abbazia

Club Abbazia is located in the Hungarian town of Keszthely, known for its famous thermal spas, a thermal lake and the beauty of Lake Balaton. The resort is a favourite with couples and families in the know, and gives a relaxing holiday in its comfortable timeshare apartments.

The units here come as studios sleeping up-to four and one or two-bedroomed apartments sleeping from four to six guests, and all come with kitchen facilities for home cooking. The accommodation is spread out over several buildings, and many of the units have patios and balconies with lovely views of Central Europe’s largest inland body of water.

The apartments are comfortably furnished and equipped with cable and satellite TVs, alarm clock/radios and cosy beds. Kitchen areas have microwaves, stove-tops, refrigerators, coffee makers, blenders, kettles, cutlery and crockery, and the bathrooms are basic but clean. There’s a restaurant giving a break from nightly cooking, and the food is filling and value for money.

Tripadvisor reviewers rate the location as the star of the resort for its closeness to the lake and as a base for touring the region. The staff are complimented for their friendly service, and the basic nature of the accommodation is mentioned as Eastern European value for money. There’s an outdoor swimming pool and sauna, and designated swimming beaches are found along the lakeshore.

Overall, the complex is quiet and peaceful, and is a place for a relaxing break away from the crowds and stresses of big city life. It’s great for mature couples and families, but young travellers looking for vibrant nightlife in the immediate surroundings of the complex will be disappointed.

A five minute drive away is the town centre with its historic castle, stunning Festetics Palace, interesting museum, heritage buildings, pretty parks and shopping streets. It’s a large town but its historic centre can easily be explored on foot and the best bars and pubs are found on the lakeshore.

A daytrip to famous Heviz Spa and thermal Lake Hevis is a must during your stay at the resort. The lake is the second largest thermally-heated body of water in the world, and contains a trace of radioactivity (safe, don’t worry!) as well as sulfurous compounds, oxygen in solution and various bacteria. The water has been known for its healing properties for generations, and Hevis is now a popular and thriving health tourist hub as a result.
